The poor man will always be the sucker for the rich. Yet they, the poor, made the rich what he or she is. Despite his wisdom he is taken for granted where the big man is present. Like the king, the big man does no wrong. Every word that drops from his lips is lapped up with relish by the poor. Even if they are the most foolish words you can ever imagine. He is always right. Might is right. Why not. The poor man works in the big man's factory. He buys low quality products from that factory at higher prices compared to the high quality and commensurate value that the big entrepreneur obtained from imported goods. He is paying the poor folk a pittance from which he made those purchases in the local market. The rich established the Bank which the factory worker must save something out of his little stipend. Remember he works under the most inhuman conditions at whatever rate of earnings. His health is ruined by very low standard of living. The big men enjoy the best of health services abroad or very expensive health facilities at home. Attended to by specialist medical staff. In contrast the poor go to ill-equipped consulting clinics without stock of adequate drugs and forced to buy adulterated medicine or resort to nature for self-medication in herbal stuffs. His life span is shortened and that big man's own elongated to exploit more folks for profit. He sponsors candidates out of the poor kinsfolk to seek election and does his bidding to steal all the resources of the people. The poor seems always willing to become a fall guy to be railroaded into sleazy gambles that end him in jail and discarded while the big financier shops for another willing candidate for political sacrifice. There's no shortage of the ways in which the rich can put the poor in perpetual adversity. Compassion for the downtrodden is a far-fectched consideration for the typical rich entrepreneur. But without the expenses of the poor in society the rich man could earn no profit to compete for resources with those of his industry. When the poor finally break into the circle of the wealthy by accident of fate or hard work he too becomes more vicious against the class of the impoverished and tightened the noose even more cruelly. That tells you so much about the curse of poverty. The wretched of the earth hate their conditions to be altered as much to be their own worst enemies. Those who aspire to be great are confronted with challenges from folks who wouldn't bear to see a change that is motivated by those in their ranks who had better perception and vision. But the big man in their backyard never encouraged them to think about better alternatives. They are meant to be that way by providence. So it is hopeless to try. No logic, equation or rationale is needed to persuade them otherwise. But this a terrible error.
"There's an evil I have seen under the sun,
As an error proceeding from the ruler :
Folly is set in great dignity,
While the rich sit in lowly place."(Eccl.10v5-6) .
The position of the poor is not ordained. It's human error!
